The Denver Art Museum is accepting applications for an objects conservator for a two-year, full-time, benefited position at the assistant or associate level. There is potential for an extension to a third year.

The objects conservator will report to the Director of Conservation and work directly with the Senior Objects Conservator and Associate Conservator of Modern and Contemporary Art. The successful candidate will undertake all relevant documentation, perform treatments on, and prepare for display three-dimensional objects ranging in age and origin. The position has been established to support ongoing exhibitions and the re-installation of galleries currently under renovation.  Re-installation and programming activities over the course of the position will be highly dynamic and incorporate objects from nine curatorial departments.  

The objects conservator will participate in departmental activities such as lab management, evaluation of proposed acquisitions and loans, preventive conservation, exhibition and installation planning, and supervision of interns. Concurrent with staggered re-installations, duties will include assisting with packing and moving the current interim laboratory and re-organizing equipment and supplies into a new conservation lab currently under construction.

Candidates must have at least 3 years professional experience beyond a degree from a graduate program in art conservation or equivalent. In addition, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to work competently under tight timelines are essential. Familiarity and experience with both traditional and contemporary materials is preferred. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
