Preservation Manager - Cape Ann (North Shore of Massachusetts, USA)

Historic New England is looking for someone to manage the preservation and maintenance activities at Beauport, the Sleeper-McCann House; Coolidge Point, the Thomas Jefferson Memorial; and Cogswell’s Grant. The preservation manager is responsible for developing and implementing the work plan that includes basic repairs and maintenance, projects and capital improvements, and coordinating within the property care team and with other Historic New England teams as necessary. The preservation manager works closely with site staff on all property related issues affecting the properties and the development staff on fundraising opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in historic preservation, architecture, engineering, conservation, or a related field and at least two years of experience are required. Requires fully competent computer skills including skilled use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel spreadsheet functions, email, and digital photography. Must be able to operate effectively both individually and in a team environment, where communication within and among the teams is essential to success. Requires problem-solving skills and ability to effectively plan and implement work processes to complete tasks according to schedule. Requires a valid driver’s license and means of transportation. Experience with facility management, project management, HVAC, other mechanical systems, and security equipment is desirable. Use of minor tools and ability to perform minor maintenance a plus.

Location: Work stations at Cogswell’s Grant, Essex, Mass., and Coolidge Point, Manchester-by-the-Sea, Mass.
